Shoreline Restoration- Volunteers are sometimes needed in the summer to help with shoreline restorations. Installing a shoreline restoration is similar to planting a garden, and can involve prepping a site and planting native plants. If you are interested in volunteering to help with this, you may contact our office to be notified in the future. Shoreline restoration volunteer opportunities will also be posted onto our Facebook page and on our website. The Green Lake Improvement District also has information for Green Lake events.

Random rain

Precipitation Monitoring- Weather affects everyone. Citizens in Isanti County volunteer to be precipitation monitors. Their weather observations are reported to the Department of Natural Resources State Climatology Office. This information is used to produce weekly precipitation maps of both rain and snow. MN Pollution Control Agency Volunteer Water Monitoring- Another way people can volunteer is to become a citizen water monitor for the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency. Volunteers measure lake and stream water clarity. The data collected is used to make decisions on restoration projects. Adopt-a-Drain- Citizens anywhere can adopt a storm drain. Volunteers should clean their storm drain off twice a month and have the opportunity to name it. This work helps keep pollutants out of our waterways. If you are interested in adopting a drain you can go to: https://mn.adopt-a-drain.org/
